House renovation series

The big house renovation series is finally here!! After sharing so many ideas and tips with you guys on home decorating and interior design, you're probably curious (I hope:) as to how I design and remodel my own house. Our next few years (or maybe our entire life:) is going to be about renovating and beautifying our current home. And here, on my website, you'll always find our finished and ongoing projects with before-and-after pictures, stories, tips and tricks and the things we've learnt, so that if you ever go through the same process, this can make it a little easier for you!

The house

My husband and I bought this house in 2017 with the intention of living here until we're little prunes with white hair:) We knew we'd have to renovate lots of things and that these projects would last for years. This is going to be an emotional roller coaster ride, because no matter how carefully we plan, things aren't always going to go our way. Also, if you live in Hungary, you probably know how crazy expensive it can get to build/renovate compared to average salaries.

Because the process of buying and selling real estate, packing and moving are expensive and tiring things on their own (especially with kids), we wanted to be done with it once and for all before the first baby comes. Luckily, we were able to do that, although it was a close call...:)

We don't really want to move ever again, so we decided to buy a house that was big enough to accommodate our family - however big it will grow:) - for the rest of our lives, and renovate it slowly as we go. So, keeping finances and logistics in mind, and following the expected and unexpected happenings of our life, we try to build and improve our home.

I am going to share the renovation room by room (not necessarily in the order they were finished in) and because we had to do a lot of this on a budget, I will also share with you some DIY projects and some tips on how you can make your reno affordable!

I hope this open-ended series will inspire and help you guys in some way!
