French onion soup

Ingredients:

  • 5-6 onions
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • olive oil
  • butter
  • wholemeal flour (about 2 tbs.)
  • 2 l water
  • 2 bouillon cubes
  • salt
  • ground mixed pepper
  • cheese
  • toast

How to make it:

  • Boil 2 liters of water in a large pot and add the bouillon cubes to it.
  • Peel the onions and cut them into 1 cm slices.
  • In a pan, sauté the onions on a mix of olive oil and butter. When it's half translucent, add the thinly sliced garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • When the onion is soft enough, sprinkle the flour on top, stir it, and lightly fry it.
  • Pour the contents of the pan into the broth and mix it well. Cook for 5-10 minutes.
  • Serve it with grated cheese and toast.
